What is AI financial software?

AI financial software helps teams interpret books they already keep — not invent a second set of numbers. On Capitallytics, accounting events post to the ledger, statements and reports read those postings, and AI CFO explains the same actuals.

That is different from an invoice tracker or a chatbot. The product is a connected financial intelligence system: accounting, reporting, forecasting, valuation, and AI share one source of posted activity.

Accounting vs financial intelligence

Accounting records what happened: bills, invoices, journals, and statements. Financial intelligence uses those actuals for cash flow, KPIs, forecasts, valuation scenarios, and questions you can ask in plain language.

Capitallytics keeps Personal Finance OS separate from Business Workspace so household cash is never mixed with company revenue.

How AP affects cash flow

An unpaid vendor bill increases expense and accounts payable. Cash does not fall until a payment journal is posted. The Business Workspace is designed so AP, cash flow, and AI explanations stay consistent with that rule.

From bank statement to reports

Import a CSV, XLSX or text PDF statement from net banking. Each line gets a suggested account and, where it pays an open bill or settles an invoice, a suggested match. You tick the lines to post; nothing is posted automatically. Posted lines become double-entry journals in the ledger, under a chart of accounts you can edit.

Reports read those journals: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash-flow statement, trial balance, general ledger and AR and AP aging. A month-end close checklist lists exceptions to clear before you approve the period, and CSV exports, plus Tally XML or Zoho-style journal files on the Business plan, let an accountant continue in their own tools.

Sample data · a fictional consultancy's first month, figures in ₹

Example: one month, profit versus cash

Example only. The consultancy invoices a client ₹2,00,000 and receives ₹1,20,000 of it. It books a ₹90,000 contractor bill and pays ₹60,000. There are no other transactions.

Journal effects of each event (₹) (sample figures, not real data)
EventDebitCreditProfit effectCash effect
Invoice raisedReceivables 2,00,000Revenue 2,00,000+2,00,0000
Payment receivedBank 1,20,000Receivables 1,20,0000+1,20,000
Bill bookedContractor expense 90,000Payables 90,000−90,0000
Bill part-paidPayables 60,000Bank 60,0000−60,000
Month total——+1,10,000+60,000
  1. Profit is revenue minus expense: ₹2,00,000 − ₹90,000 = ₹1,10,000.
  2. Cash is what actually moved: ₹1,20,000 in − ₹60,000 out = ₹60,000.
  3. The ₹50,000 gap is the ₹80,000 still owed by the client less the ₹30,000 still owed to the contractor, and it appears in the cash-flow statement as changes in receivables and payables.

Both numbers are right; they answer different questions. Keeping them separate is what lets the AI CFO explain a profitable month with a thin bank balance.

Accounting FAQ

Short answers on plans, data handling and how this works, before you sign up.

What is AI accounting software?
On Capitallytics it means business books, AP/AR, ledger, and statements in one workspace, with AI CFO explaining those posted actuals. It is not a payroll or tax-filing replacement.
Can Capitallytics manage accounts payable?
Yes. Business Workspace includes Accounts Payable for vendor bills, aging, and payments that post to the ledger. Live books require an authenticated account — not the marketing demo.
Can Capitallytics analyze financial statements?
Yes. Statements and Reports read posted P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow from the account book.
How does Capitallytics connect financial data?
Imports and documents post accounting events. Downstream modules consume those events instead of storing a second copy of the same bill.
Is anything posted to my books without my approval?
No. Imported bank lines, suggested accounts and suggested matches wait in a review queue until you confirm them.
