Stock Average Calculator FAQ
Answers about how this calculator works.
What is a weighted average buy price?
It is the total amount paid divided by the total number of shares. Larger purchases have more influence on the average than smaller ones.
Does averaging down reduce my loss?
It lowers your average cost per share, but it also increases the money at risk in that stock. The calculator shows the new average, not whether buying more is wise.
Can I include more than two purchases?
This calculator takes two lots. For more, combine earlier lots first: enter their total quantity and average price as purchase one.
Are trading charges included in the average?
No. Add your brokerage and taxes to the price if you want a cost basis that includes charges.
