Formula
EMI = P × i × (1 + i)^n / ((1 + i)^n - 1)
- P = loan amount (principal)
- i = annual interest rate / 12 / 100 (monthly rate)
- n = tenure in years × 12 (number of monthly instalments)
- Total payment = EMI × n; total interest = total payment - P
Assumptions
- Uses the standard reducing-balance EMI formula with a fixed interest rate for the whole tenure.
- Interest is charged monthly at the annual rate divided by 12.
- The moratorium period during studies and interest accrued during it are not modelled; enter the balance owed when repayment begins.
- Tax deductions on education loan interest are not calculated.

No. It calculates EMIs from the start of repayment. If interest accrues during the course and moratorium, add it to the loan amount you enter.

Are tax benefits on education loan interest included?
No. Tax deductions depend on your regime and are not applied in this estimate.
